I'm Ted, a second year Aeronautical Engineering student at Staffordshire University with a genuine passion for engineering. I enjoy challenging myself through personal projects that allow me to develop my knowledge outside of university.
Outside of engineering, mountain biking is one of my biggest hobbies and has inspired many of my personal projects. It allows me to combine my interest in bikes with my passion for engineering and problem solving.
Football and running are two of my favourite ways to stay active. Both activities have strengthened my teamwork and resilience.
Hiking is something I also really enjoy, especially when exploring new places. While volunteering in Nepal, I had the opportunity to complete several mountain hikes and experience some incredible views, as shown in the photo above.

My Engineering Journey
My interest in engineering began through my Level 3 apprenticeship at Land Rover Knutsford, where I gained hands on experience working with mechanical systems, diagnosing faults and solving real engineering problems. After completing my apprenticeship, I continued working at Land Rover for a further year, building my confidence and developing a strong understanding of working as a senior member of staff.
Wanting to expand my knowledge and pursue a career through higher education, I decided to study Aeronautical Engineering at Staffordshire University. I chose this course because it combines many areas of engineering that interest me, including design, aerodynamics, structures, manufacturing and problem solving. Since starting university, I've really enjoyed putting my knowledge into practice through a range of engineering projects, both for my course and in my own time.
During the summer of 2026, I worked at Tiger Trailers, gaining further hands on experience in manufacturing while learning more about large scale production and how engineering projects are delivered.
Looking back, each stage of my journey has helped shape my skills, broaden my experience and strengthen my passion for engineering.
